Mac OS X – Software Update from the Command Line

Command-line junkies everywhere might want to take note of this one. It’s stupid-simple and beats the heck out of watching spinning thing-a-mabobs in the App Store. Open a terminal and try these out;

softwareupdate --list // That'll get you a list of the updates available for your Mac.
softwareupdate -i 'Name of the Update' // That'll update a single package.
softwareupdate -ia // That'll update everything available for your Mac.

Have fun!
