I’ve decided to revert back to WordPress for this site. The other framework installed here required continual reprogramming for the addition of features. That’s something I do all day at work, that I’d rather not have to do when I’m off.

I have retained the old galleries and will integrate them in time. I hope to be able to make image handling a little smoother. I’ll let you know when it’s ready.

User names and passwords have been reverted to what they were before I took down the WP installation in November of last year.

Some images do not appear as they should. Bear-with as I make corrections while reverting back to WP.

Politics – Too Stupid!

There was a time I would become emotional about politics in the USA. No – not brought to tears. More like – infuriated or disappointed. So much so, I had to take a break from the non-sense for a year or so for some introspection on the topic. I’ve reached a conclusion…

Politics and getting emotional about political stuff is just Too Stupid!

I still feel an obligation to vote and voice my opinions. I’ll vote at the polls and post my opinions here. I will not however, discuss those opinions with acquaintances, friends or family. Life’s too short to permit the insane-stupidity spewed by political “machines” to interfere with my personal relationships or day-to-day life.

Karma LIVES – Burglars Don’t!

I was awaken last night by 2 freaked-out women, Denette and Jessica, around 10:45pm. Someone was shot and lying in the driveway across the street. The neighbour was on the phone calling 911 when Jessica was on her way out and overheard the drama unfolding. Needless-to-say she came back in the house a little rattled, told her mother what was going-on and I was awaken in-turn.

There’s little anyone can “do” other than watch during these things. I stepped out the front door just as the police arrived. Not much I could then, other than ask questions and get in the way, so I opted to watch.

The area we live-in is called Pine Hills – not-so jokingly referred to as Crime Hills. Popping noises (firecrackers we hope – but pretty sure there’s gunfire in there too) are not uncommon and neither is the sound of sirens. Shortly after 10:30, Denette and Jessica tell me they heard a popping noise, and thought little of it.

Of course, since the incident, we wondered what happened. Did a neighbour stumble across a would-be robber, was it a home invasion, or just a random act of violence?

Turns-out the guy was participating in a home burglary one street behind my across-the-street neighbour’s house. The person living at the house caught the crooks as he arrived home. From what I hear, he thought he saw one of the crooks point a gun in his direction. So he did what anyone would do and returned the favour with several shots. One crook today is dead, the other… though “critically wounded” made it over several fences just to “drop” in the driveway across the street. I’m under the impression one or more got away.

I was relieved to hear the news story this morning. Not sure why I felt relief, but I did. Nice to hear that Karma works for crooks too. Both bastards got what they deserved! If any of the crooks did get away, I hope they reconsider the life-of-crime they’ve participated in. Or, find another home with another guy who can shoot straight and get lined-up in his/her sights!

Take Care of My Little Girl!

Tomorrow brings the greatest gift our species can possibly know (at least in my immediate family) … Perpetuation! A New Generation!! My Grandson!!!

This “simple gift” we call “child-birth”, can’t be diminished by the masses, is only truly experienced by immediate family and, yet, IS enhanced and, at least “influenced” by … everyone else?!?!?!

Certainly; It’s a matter of perspective!

I don’t think SO! I think one universal is … “That’s My Little-Girl” … xxxx….

You fill-in the number of times the “X” ‘means something’!

Don’t diminish “her” glory because, I’m unable to extol “her” virtues. But, that’s my “little-girl”. She’s getting another lesson from H.K.U. (Hard Knocks University). “I hope I prepared her for this challenge”.

Ultimately, it’s not tough for Uncles and Aunts to `miss` a “new” family member’s “Grand Appearance”. Grand-children arriving seems to be a little different tune!

As a “Dad”, I care little about everything-else! I just want my daughter to be happy and “treated-like-a-princess”. Most importantly, be healthy and safe! For the rest of her life!!!

Resurrection of the Swamps

Those familar know I was layed-off from C.O.I. in April 2007. Around that time I connected with a friend in the data recovery business. He was interested in opening a second branch and I wasn’t exactly getting employment offers at the time. So, we hooked-up to do some data recovery business. Part of my agreement with him was to close iSwamp.com which was a competitor to his website.

All things considered, jumping into the new venture, I just closed my entire network of sites. Time didn’t really permit me to run them properly anyway and the sites didn’t generate huge numbers of visitors. But, I was getting in the neighborhood of 30,000 unique visitors each month over the entire network. Individually, no big deal. Not a “barn-burner”, bit collectively not too shabby.

Looking back, it was a bad decision (it’s not the first and won’t be the last I make). So for the past month or so, I’ve been rebuilding my little swamp network. You’ll see them listed here under “My Sites”. With any luck someone out there will find the stuff useful.
